Apple Crumb Pie

Have you ever tried to make a homemade apple pie from scratch? yea, too time consuming, I agree. Unless you are a master baker, getting the right consistency of the dough, cutting the dough into strips and all that stuff just gets too complicated on a busy week schedule.

Well, I've got a great recipe for you! I made it before dinner on Thanksgiving Day and it only took 15 minute to put together! Everything is homemade, no store bought dough or filling (truthfully, I don't really like that kind of stuff unless I am beyond desperate). This apple crumb pie tastes so yummy, especially with a huge scoop of quality vanilla bean ice cream!

Apple Crumb Pie

Ingredients-

4 golden delicious apples, peeled and sliced
3 tablespoons of flour
1/3 cup of brown sugar
lemon juice from half of a lemon
1 ts of vanilla extract
2 tablespoons of honey/pure maple syrup/agave
1/4 cup of chopped pecans

Combine all the ingredients listed on top together, pour in to a 8x8 pan.

Crumb topping-
6 tablespoon of butter, chilled and cubed
1/2 cup of flour
1/2 cup of oats
1/3 cup of brown sugar
1 ts of cinnamon
1/3 cup of chopped pecans
pinch of salt

Mix the crumb topping until mixture appears course, and top the apple mixture. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes.

And of course don't forget to serve it with a spoon of Haagen Dazs Vanilla Bean ice cream!
